The brief is common enough: a family wants their home to feel open and generous inside, without broadcasting daily life to whoever is walking past. The instinct is usually a tall wall.
Our approach on this site was to pull living spaces back from the front elevation and let a private garden do the privacy work instead. From inside, the home reads as open. From the street, it reads as considered rather than fortified.
It's a small shift in strategy, but it changes how a house sits in its neighbourhood, not just how it functions for the family inside it.
